Converis Pilot: all LUMC articles from 2018 retrievable in the Leiden Repository

As you probably know, the Leiden University is now obliged to make all scientific output available as Open Access. Plan S aims to achieve 100% Open Access through the "Golden route", which means that a researcher needs to publish in an Open Access journal. For articles that have not been published in an OA journal – most articles – the "Green route" is still an option. This means that a particular version of the article may be republished in an open access repository. Publishers mostly don’t allow publisher versions to be republished if not OA, but the manuscript version in Word or pdf – pre-print (before the peer review) or preferably a post-print (after the peer review) – may be published instead. Often, an embargo period must be observed up to the moment the manuscript version can added to the repository.

There can be some confusion. It may seem as if articles have been published in open access but they are really only available in fulltext within LUMC due to the Walaeus Library’s subscription to a journal.
To ensure that LUMC articles become available wherever possible, a link has been created between Converis and Leiden University’s Repository. PDFs that were uploaded in Converis are copied every night to the Leiden Repository.

If you have any questions, please contact the Walaeus Library, at walaeus@lumc.nl or telephone number 63890/63892.The pilot will be evaluated in due course in order to determine the best working method. We will keep you informed.
